The door opens with a sensation of warm, humid air, and there's the sight of a open staircase winding down. Ivan ushers you into an open cave before she locks the door after everyone. A large table is inexplicably set for as many places as there are people. You'll find dinner already set (though those that requested something else will receive that), and for those that have already were killed on previous days, you'll find their meal replaced with a framed portrait sketched in pencil. As you come to your conclusions about who to vote for, you can approach a table in a room to the side and write your vote before placing it in an ornate box. When you place your vote, there's the sound of a deep bell tolling. When you return to your place at the table, you'll find a glass of port waiting for you. [ Rei just crumples her skirt in frustration, if only because she's not pleased about this. She doesn't look directly at Clarine, and for good reason. ]

There's too little evidence to find out a good solution. And it's possible that what was done to Ema-san's body... was done after she was dead, and not before. We don't know the actual cause of death, either.

All of this could just be throwing us off, and I— I hate it. [ She's shaking, trembling actually. ]

Nobody can vote logically because there's not much to go by except for people's actions— their words. It's all psychological because the odds are too high when it comes to voting off an innocent person.

[Hinata's not in much better shape than she is, but at least this is a trial and not body discovery, so he'll just come over and put a hand on her shoulder. Is it comforting? Who knows, but at least he's not the one shaking this time.]

W-Well, right now, I'm definitely looking at three active suspects, but— I think I'm going to agree with what that guy said about the man who volunteered, as much as I'd hate to say it.

Unless the General and the Foxhounds have already found a Fox to hunt for tonight, I think some people might go up to Bols-san as a middleman. That is, unless he's trying to bluff. But I don't think that's the case. Or at least, I'd like to think that it isn't.

Though I'm also wary of Sephiroth-san, too, for various reasons.

Y-yeah. I don't want to do it either, but... if he's okay with it, it's that or someone who really wants to live. I don't think it's a bluff, since that's... way too risky, but what other choice do we have?

There's the guy Sephiroth suggested, Samonji. It sounds like he wouldn't mind dying, either. I... can't understand people like that, I really can't. I was all set to vote for Sephiroth, but now...? I'm not sure I can do that in good conscience.

Our odds of picking an innocent person are way higher than our odds of picking a guilty one. So if we're gonna pick someone, I think we should at least have some idea of a consensus.

More than likely, Panty wouldn't even vote. She'd just bet it all on a roll of the die without a care in the world so she can go out back into the jungle later and try to seduce Red in a bush or something.

But she thinks it over hard for a long moment. She can't just hide from this. If she hides her face like a child, then she is no better than the people pointing fingers at random. So slowly, she straightens her shoulders, and draws in a deep breath.]

I cannot vote for Souza. Not... not upon seeing the belief his friends have in him. To do so would be to undermine all I believe in how we must work together and trust each other.

If you can't vote for Souza, unless you're voting at random...you can either vote for Bols, who hasn't done anything wrong (at least, not here anyway) but is willing to martyr himself to buy more time, or Sephiroth, who might or might not be our Fox but is pretty fucking sketch all things considered.

[It's true. Those are the options. And...the more she thinks it over, the more certain she is becoming, if nothing else.]

... To vote for a certainly innocent person, if only to buy ourselves more time...that is horrible.

[everything is horrible, and the thought of sending Sephiroth to his death makes her sick too, but there's...a chance that he's guilty.

And it's more of a chance than anyone else has.]

Even if he is a role in this game...perhaps he shall say so, to save himself, if the vote sways that way. [though he could just make that up too, huh....] Either way, there is still a chance otherwise, and that...is what I must put my faith in.

I know that you probably want to vote for someone who's guilty, but... [ Rei just manages to hang her head, defeated. ] Our odds of voting for someone innocent are too high to begin with. Whether we end up condemning someone innocent or guilty to death, I— I at least plan on carrying that with me.

There's a beat where she considers if she made a target of herself before, and then she dismisses it. What's done is done. She doesn't regret it.]

Then... share what you know with someone you trust, and...ask them to speak on your behalf. Perhaps that will keep you safe. I believe your input is too valuable to lose.

Taking out our detective was a really smart move on the General's part. When it comes to looking at crime scenes, we're pretty fucked without someone who knows what the fuck they're doing.

It's a problem. This whole thing boils down to who you trust and gut feelings. People trying to fucking outplay each other and signing their own goddamn death warrants in the process.

We don't know where to turn, but we can't abstain again.

As much as I hate to admit it— you're right, Stocking-san. We have to vote. Even if we're wrong, I— we'll— all carry that death on our shoulders, because we all want to live. At the very least, most of us will see through to another day.

They might have the advantage now [ she's referring to the General and his Foxhounds ] but it's not going to last. A-At least, I hope so.

So we're going to vote, we've decided that much. But still...we don't have a consensus for who, exactly. Time's running out, and majority rules, remember?

I didn't want to suggest it, but — um, since most people are divided between two possible suspects — it's possible to tie the vote, right?

It's possible that they either might have to kill each other, or someone kills both of them. Those are the two possibilities I thought of, at least.

So we should probably try and actually cut our losses and get a decent enough majority here...last thing we need are another two deaths here.
